The house has a wonderful position overlooking a beautiful sandy beach on the north coast of Brittany about 30 miles west of St Malo. The beach is one of several on an unspoilt stretch of coastline running from Cap Frehel to Erquy. The house is situated in a quiet private estate which fronts on to the sandy beach below. The nearest town, Erquy, is about 2 miles away where there are plenty of shops.
The area offers great scope for sporting activities such as golf, swimming, wind-surfing, tennis, fishing and riding. The beach is ideal for children with superb sand, safe swimming and rock-pools for fishing. There are beautiful cliff-top walks near the house, and easy day-trips to the old towns of Dinan and St Malo, and to Mont St Michel. Restaurants in the area are many and varied, offering excellent menus and there is plenty of fresh seafood. Erquy is an active fishing port and is the largest scallop producer in Europe.

The beach below the house
The house is newly-built, completed in 2003. There are four generous double bedrooms (two with double beds and two with twin beds), so with extra beds the house can sleep up to 10 people. Outside the style is traditional Breton design, but inside everything is spacious, new and modern with fully-fitted kitchen and three bathrooms. The main living area is open plan, providing a lot of light and space. There are four large french windows at the back which allow extensive views of the sea from all the main rooms.
Outside there are terraces with tables and chairs for eating outside, and a barbeque is kept in the basement.
Also in the basement are a washing machine, tumble drier and table-tennis table.
The main bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms, and a third shower room is provided downstairs for the fourth bedroom.

The front of the house. The main rooms face back down to the sea.
There are several excellent cliff walks nearby. This beach (Lortuais) is about 45 minutes walk from the house past another similar beach. There are other good walks going the other way to Sables D’Or, along the beach at Pleherel Plage, and between Fort La Latte and Cap Frehel. In fact there is a coastal path around all of Brittany to explore.
These fishing boats are moored in the harbour at Erquy. It’s nice to walk down by the charming port and interesting to watch the boats unloading their sacks of shellfish. The port also has a selection of excellent restaurants where the seafood is unbeatable!
The town itself has a range of shops and supermarkets. There is also a range of other activities offered such as sailing, horse-riding, tennis, cycling (bicycles for hire), etc etc
For more shopping the town of Val Andre is nearby, and the city of St Brieuc is about 30 mins drive away

The beach nearby at Lortuais
The golf course pictured is at Pleneuf (15 mins drive away). This is a really top-class course - always in good condition and it has wonderful views over the sea with some spectacular holes.
Another good course is at Sables D’Or (10 mins), which is challenging for good golfers, but being quieter, is also suitable for beginners.
Dinard (35 mins), Ajoncs D’Or (50 mins), Le Tronchet (55 mins), St Cast (20 mins) and Chateau Des Ormes (60 mins) are also within range. Dinard is a more traditional club with its pretty course going around the clifftops.
Green fees are between £20 and £35 depending on season.
